Cambridge Memorial Hospital will be closing its COVID-19 Assessment Centre early on Friday.

In a post on social media, the hospital said its centre on Holiday Inn Drive will be shut down as of 4:30 p.m.

It cited a staffing shortage and the hospital apologized for any inconvenience this may cause.

The hospital was in a similar situation in mid-April, but recently noted it had seen a decline in the number of staff off-work due to COVID-19 illness or self-isolation requirements.

A spokesperson with Cambridge Memorial Hospital said Friday's early closure was a result of staff members being sick, coupled with recruitment challenges.
