A special weather statement has been issued for Waterloo Region and surrounding areas calling for the potential of torrential downpours and thunderstorms.
Environment Canada says the storms may be slow moving, and localized rainfall amounts of 50 mm or more is possible.
The storm system is expected to move into Waterloo Region Friday afternoon and evening.
