Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning for Waterloo Region - warning of the possibility of freezing rain and some snow accumulation on Sunday night.

The weather authority said a low pressure system will track east across the Great Lakes Sunday through Monday.

Precipitation will begin as snow late into Sunday afternoon then will change to freezing rain Sunday evening before changing to rain by Monday morning.

The statement warns of hazardous travel conditions due to ice build-up, as roadways and sidewalks may become slippery.
