A special weather statement for Waterloo Region has been upgraded to a snowfall warning.

Environment Canada is forecasting significant snowfall beginning late Wednesday morning.

Total snowfall amounts could reach between 15 and 20 cm.

Rapidly accumulating snow could lead to hazardous travel conditions and isolated power outages will be possible.

The snow is expected to ease overnight Wednesday or early Thursday.
