Seven Kitchener splashpads open as of Friday

By Erin Anderson

Some record-breaking warm weather has arrived in Waterloo Region.

On Thursday, a high of 28.8 degrees Celsius was recorded around 3 p.m.

That beats the old record high of 28.2 set in 1991.

On Friday, The City of Kitchener announced it was opening seven splashpads due to the early arrival of summer-like temperatures.

An additional splashpad at RBJ Schlegel Park is set to open on May 20. Each site will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

It's also expected that the city's outdoor pools will be available sometime in mid-June.
