Thursday marks the National Day for Elimination of Violence Against Women.
The Sexual Assault Support Centre is starting 16 days of activism against gender based violence.
The centre says in a series of social media posts that the waitlist continues to grow and that addressing the root causes of gender based violence is the only way we will put an end to its services.
The centre goes on to say that its public education team engages communities in conversations and responding to sexual and gender-based violence in schools, community spaces, and workplaces.
They say we all have a role to play in ending sexual and gender-based violence.
The centre's male allies program engages men and boys in this work.
Over the course of the 16 days of activism, the centre's allies program will share a list on social media of the calls to actions.
