Former Lieutenant-General Roméo Dallaire is coming to town next month for an event to honour the 100th Anniversary of the Armistice of the First World War.

It will take place at 7 p.m. on November 11 at Centre In The Square box office.

Tickets are free and will be distributed on a first come - first serve basis, beginning on November 5 at the Centre In The Square.

There will also be performances by the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony and the ceremonial band of Waterloo Regional Police.

The more than 112,000 Canadians who have lost their lives fighting wars will also be remembered that evening.

"Whether as a military commander, humanitarian, senator, or author, Roméo Dallaire has penetrated our national consciousness, often in supremely unconventional, and often intriguing ways. In addition, a multi-media presentation spearheaded by Centre In The Square General Manager, Rob Sonoda, will feature local veterans who retell stories from their days serving our country filmed at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum." said a release.
