It was a busy Saturday morning in Kitchener. A new Strawberry Park Towns development by Country Green Homes is being built on Rosemount Drive.
76 homes will be built, however, the developer has only put a price on 27 of them, so far. This drew interest from across southern Ontario, and especially the Greater Toronto Area.
Yusuf Uyanik and his family are from Scarborough and waited in line since Friday.
"We arrived around 9 p.m. (Friday)...I've been waiting in front of the building all night...I basically slept in my car."
Uyanik added the reason why he's thinking to buy in Kitchener is that prices in the GTA are too high and out of his price range.
It looks more like a construction site than an estate, but that didn't stop Jaspreet Dhaliwal who also made the trip from Brampton.
"We found out about (Strawberry Park Towns) about two weeks ago, I've been here since 7 a.m. (Friday) waiting."
Dhaliwal had the same thought process as Uyanik and said homes closer to Toronto are getting too expensive.
"A house here is probably half the price than what it would be in Oakville, Markham or the Richmond Hill area, so it's more in my price range."
Dhaliwal added that he expects the 27 homes to get sold immediately, and is happy he showed up early.
