The Downtown Kitchener Neighbourhood Association and Victoria Park Neighbourhood Association are proud to present the Gaukel St. Pop-Up Park. From September 26-29, Gaukel Street in downtown Kitchener will be transformed into a fun, people-focused space.

Closing the road to vehicles will make room for patio tables, live music and theatre, a basketball net, games, and more. People are encouraged to make the space their own, have fun, relax, and imagine the possibilities of a redesigned Gaukel Street.

The road connects City Hall with Victoria Park, and is identified as a “ceremonial link” by the City. Kitchener's strategic plan calls for Gaukel to become a “pedestrian-first street”.

In partnership with IMPACT19 theatre festival, Neruda Arts, and Slumber Party KW, we will bring world-class music and theatre to Gaukel Street for free public performances during Saturday, September 28.

Free coffee and snacks will be provided by Cafe Pyrus and Full Circle Foods.

As more and more people call downtown Kitchener home, we need to provide improved public spaces for residents and visitors alike to enjoy. The Pop-Up Park will help us envision how Gaukel St. could evolve in the near future. We'll be asking attendees to complete a survey to share their thoughts.

We are grateful to the City of Kitchener Planning Department, #LoveMyHood grant, and Downtown Kitchener BIA for providing funding for the Pop-Up Park.
