Over $460K in funding approved to expand free dental care for local seniors

By Erin Anderson

Seniors will soon have more access to free dental care in Waterloo Region.

The Ontario Seniors Dental Care Program is designed to assist those living on a low income.

The Ontario Ministry of Health has now approved over $467,000 in capital funding to expand local services.

It's through a partnership with the Region of Waterloo and community health care centres.

The services will be offered at the Langs Community Health Centre in Cambridge. It's currently under construction and slated to open in December.

The Kitchener Downtown Community Health Centre will also be included. That facility is expected to open in March.

According to a release from officials, “About 10,000 seniors in Waterloo Region may qualify for the service but provincial funding is limited.”
