One person was taken to hospital after a shooting in Kitchener.

Waterloo Regional Police confirm the 'disturbance' happened near Paulander Drive and Victoria Street early Tuesday morning.

It's alleged a group gathered outside of a residence around 2:30 a.m., when two males approached and fired gunshots.

The victim, a 21-year-old woman, suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The suspects fled in a dark-coloured SUV toward Lawrence Avenue.

As of Tuesday morning, there is still a heavy police presence in the area.

No arrests have been made at this time.
