Oktoberfest announces new ambassador program

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest is making a major change to its ambassador program for this year.

The search will be done during the festival, with the ambassador(s) to be announced after it has concluded. It's also open to all who wish to apply, to make it more inclusive.

Those between 19 and 29 and living in the region (within 40 kilometres), are encouraged to apply.

“The Oktoberfest Ambassador Program is a one-of-a-kind opportunity within Waterloo Region that is an inclusive, fresh and exciting addition to K-W Oktoberfest’s programming,” Festival President Allan Cayenne explained in a news release. “The role is a unique blend of opportunities for self-growth, skill development, and volunteerism, all while celebrating both Bavarian culture and our local diverse community. We’re keeping everything that was great about the Miss Oktoberfest tradition and opening it up for anyone who wants to take part.”

The application fee is also being waived for 2022. You can apply here.

The first new Oktoberfest ambassador(s) will be announced on October 15.
