An explosion and fire on Wednesday morning on Sprucedale Crescent in Kitchener took the life of 58-year-old Edresilda Haan.

A memorial service is being held this morning for 58-year-old Edresilda Haan.

Family and friends say they'll remember Haan as a loving and supportive mother, sister, and daughter.

In an obituary, she's described as a dedicated employee with Sunlife Financial for 38 years, and will be remembered fondly by relatives and friends.

A memorial service is planned Wednesday at the Henry Walser Funeral Home Chapel at 10:30 a.m.

Haan was found dead after a massive house explosion on Sprucedale Crescent a week ago today. Police are investigating her death as a homicide.

A 58-year-old man who police say is related to Haan is still in the hospital in serious condition, and remains in the ICU.

He has not been formally identified by police.

Officers say they are waiting for a final report into the explosion from the Ontario Fire Marshal.

The family has asked anyone looking to express their sympathy to make a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or the K-W Humane Society.
