Local humane society issues urgent appeal for donations to help young dog’s recovery

By Erin Anderson

Our local humane society has issued an urgent appeal for donations to assist a young dog on its road to recovery.

The dog arrived at the humane society's location in Stratford on Monday in critical condition and immediately went into surgery.

The animal is now being sent to the emergency vet clinic in Waterloo Region for ongoing monitoring.

The society said the female dog is severely dehydrated and requires pain management and antibiotics. A 'foreign body' was reportedly discovered during surgery and was removed.

The cost of care is estimated around $4,000 and the humane society has asked for financial help.

A post on its website said, “Anything raised above and beyond what is needed for her, will go to help other animals needing veterinary care just like she did.”
