Live music, fireworks return to downtown Kitchener this Canada Day

By Erin Anderson

Live music and fireworks will once again take over downtown Kitchener on July 1.

Canada Day festivities were either cancelled or altered the past two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year, celebrations will look a lot more normal — including the return of a grand fireworks display at Carl Zehr Square. That's expected to begin around 10:20 p.m. and is weather dependent.

Ahead of that, residents can enjoy free music on the main stage in front of Kitchener City Hall from acts like Rufus John, Alyssa Reid, Bad Child, and Glass Tiger beginning at 6 p.m.

During the afternoon hours, there will also be a 'block party' held on Gaukel Street which will feature performances by The Free Label and Ramsay Almighty.

The full schedule can be found by clicking here.
