Licensed cannabis producers will be allowed to sell their products on site, online and over the phone

The news was delivered along with the fall economic statement saying they will decrease waits for access to legal cannabis.

Cannabis retailers will soon be able to sell products over the phone or online for in-store pick ups.

The method known as “click-and-connect” wasn't the only addition – the province will also allow licensed producers to have a retail store on each of their production sites.

Nathan Woodward, President and CEO of James E. Wagner Cultivation Corporation, believes all producers were aligned in the idea that retail in Ontario is vital.

“We need to get more of these stores, we need to have a larger presence so that people can access the products that they want. So the Ontario government listened to those concerns and that's how we got to where we are.”

Woodward says the government has been talking about changing the system for awhile.

“We had been hoping for this change. Originally the legislation that they brought forward entitled us to one farm-gate location on one premises of one of our locations in Ontario. We were very excited to be present in Waterloo Region where we have deep roots in terms of offering a retail location.” he told Kitchener Today with Brian Bourke on 570 NEWS.

The Progressive Conservatives say the change is part of a promise to lift the cap on the number of cannabis stores and combat the black market.

The number of legal pot outlets in Ontario is increasing from 25 to 75 this fall.

The government says it will amend legislation to make the changes but has given no immediate timeline when they will take effect.
