Kitchener’s leaf drop-off sites to open later this week

The City of Kitchener says leaf drop-off sites will be open as of Friday, October 19.
There are eight locations throughout the city:
- Schaefer Park – 75 Bloomingdale Rd.
- Breithaupt Park – Kinsmen Park, off Union Street
- Kitchener Auditorium – Ottawa Street North entrance
- Meinzinger Park Soccer Fields – Homer Watson Boulevard
- Lions Arena – Rittenhouse Road
- Southwest Optimist Sportsfield – Pioneer Drive
- Cherry Park – Strange Street at Waverly Road
- Hofstetter Park – 40 Hofstetter Ave
The city says the Victoria Street South at Eastforest Trail site is permanently closed.
The locations will be open seven days a week during daylight hours until December 14 and are for loose leaves only.
The city says you should take your bags or bins back with you.
Curbside collection only happens in the more heavily forested areas of the city.
Leaves will be picked up in those areas the following weeks:
- Blue zone: Nov. 13-16
- Gold zone: Nov. 19-23
- Brown zone: Nov. 26-30
- Red zone: Hot spot; monitored and collection occurs as required from Nov. 2 until Dec. 7
