Our local Humane Society will receive $30,000 in funding from PetSmart Charities of Canada.

The money will go toward the Community Veterinary Outreach program.

It will help support free services like spaying and neutering, as well as provide basic care to pets if their owners can't afford it.

"The pandemic made it even more challenging for those living in a shelter or experiencing near-homelessness to access veterinary services. The PetSmart grant will help us bring these services to them," said Kathrin Delutis, executive director of the humane society, in a release.

Since 2008, PetSmart has given over $90,000 to the Humane Society of Kitchener-Waterloo and Stratford Perth.
