Another large donation has been made to the 'Something for Everyone Capital Campaign' in Wellesley Township.

The campaign is raising funds for the township's new recreation centre.

Earlier this week, the Wellesley Home Hardware Building Centre donated $250,000.

Chris Martin, campaign chair, said they are truly grateful, adding owners Miriam and John Kuepfer and Jamie Kuepfer have made a tremendous commitment to the community.

“We feel honoured to be part of this fantastic community and are very blessed for the support the community has provided our business over the years. It is great to be able to give back to the community that has shown us so much support,” John Kuepfer said in a news release.

“The facility is going to be a hub for the community, and everyone in the Township can make use of it as it is more than just an arena,” added Jamie Kuepfer. “This is a great way to show thanks for the support we have received.”

In honour of the donation, the arena in the new recreation centre will be named after the building centre.

The 62,000 square foot facility will include a single ice pad, a walking track, two soccer fields, a gymnasium/community centre, plus a skateboard park.

It's slated to open in the fall of 2023.
