Donated ambulance arrives in Guatemala

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

An ambulance the Region of Waterloo recently retired has arrived in Guatemala.

It left in November and they teamed up with Alianza Canada to get it there.

Alianza covered the cost of shipping and insurance for the ambulance which will better help a Guatemalan community respond to medical emergencies.

In the past, the region has donated retired ambulances to organizations in Kenya, Mexico, as well as Conestoga College.

Vehicles that aren't donated are sold at auction, with the cash coming back to the region.
