Conestoga College has been ranked as one of Canada's top research colleges.

Conestoga comes in at number 12 on the Top 50 Research Colleges list put out by Research Infosource Inc.

Research income topped $5 million in fiscal year 2018.

Last year, the college was ranked 23rd, with research income of just over $3 million.

“Conestoga is committed to investing in applied research to address the needs of our industry and community partners,” President John Tibbits said in a release.

“We greatly appreciate their support as we continue to build applied research capacity to propel innovation, drive collaboration and contribute to the economic and social well-being of the regions we serve.” he added.

Conestoga was also among the top five large colleges for both industry research income and industry research intensity, the percentage of total research income provided through industry sponsorship.

In 2018-19, over 3,500 students and close to 270 faculty members at Conestoga were involved in various research projects.
