Another COVID-19 outbreak declared at Cambridge Memorial Hospital

By Maddie Demarte

Region of Waterloo Public Health declared a COVID-19 outbreak at Cambridge Memorial Hospital Wednesday.

It's on the Medicine B Unit, which is in Wing B, level 4.

The hospital said two patients and one staff member tested positive for the virus.

Additional safety precautions have been implemented at CMH in response to the outbreak, including enhanced swabbing and testing of non-infected patients and staff, enhanced cleaning, and temporarily pausing in-patient visits.

If no other cases are detected for ten consecutive days, the outbreak may be declared over on January 28.

Two other outbreaks remain in effect at the hospital: on the Surgical B3 Unit and the hospital's Rehab Unit.
