A look at local events planned for the Labour Day weekend

By Casey MacDonald

The summer season is wrapping up but that doesn't mean you can't get out and enjoy some great actives around Waterloo Region.

The first of the fall fairs are taking place, one of the biggest, The Paris Fall Fair opens Friday for it's 160th season. It features reptiles, monster trucks, a demolition derby, fair food, and carnival rides. The fair runs until Monday. Details and a full schedule can be found here.

The Mitchell Fall Fair is also running this weekend. Details are here.

The Blue Jays may not be having a great season, but the Kitchener Panthers sure are, and they are taking on the Barrie Baycats for the IBL Championship title. You can catch game four of the series Sunday at 7 p.m. at Jack Couch Park. Ticket information can be found here.

Staying with sports, The Kitchener Rangers Fan Fest and Barbecue takes place at the Aud on Sunday.

Fans have the opportunity to meet the Rangers players, enjoy a BBQ lunch and take part in a number of activities including inflatable games and rides.

Also, those attending are asked to bring a donation of new or gently used hockey equipment to help out The Sun Life Financial Kids In Gear program.

The event starts at 10 a.m. with the Rangers taking on the North Bay Battalion in a preseason showcase at 2 p.m. Full details can be found here.
