$500,000 donated to Laurier for supply chain management studies

It's another half a million dollars for Wilfrid Laurier University!

The Graham Munro Charitable Foundation is providing the $500,000 donation for the school's supply chain management studies to advance research and education.

The money is expected to provide incentive scholarships “to attract national and international graduate students,” and support a new student association that provides members with “experimental learning opportunities, applied research projects at industry companies, and connections to professional associations.”

In a release, the dean of Laurier's Lazaridis School of Business and Economics Michael J. Kelly says the investment will enhance their ability to support supply chain management students and faculty.

“In addition to benefitting from innovative education and applied research in companies, students will build invaluable industry connections that will provide them with a strong foundation on the best business practices from some of the most successful global companies,” he added.

Now, some of the money will also help the school name the M-O director, a role that they say will foster awareness of the supply chain management profession among students.

It will also build strong, mutually beneficial relationships with industry to support teaching excellence and research.

Laurier President and vice-chancellor Debroah MacLatchy calls the donation a “game changer” for both Laurier and businesses located in the region.

“With this support,” she says, “Laurier and the Graham Munro Charitable Foundation will cultivate the next generation of leaders in supply chain management.”
