Two opponents running for mayor in Waterloo are slamming incumbent Dave Jaworsky.
Chris Kolednik, and Kelly Steiss have posted on their campaign platforms saying its time to stop back-room dealing at city hall. Both been very vocal online over "secret budget meetings."
This comes after councillor's were instructed to have private sit-downs with staff members to get their questions answered about the budget in 2015.
Steiss made the comments in a post on her campaign site saying "the incumbent mayor has no respect for your money."
Kolednik made similar comments in a post on Facebook saying "its time to STOP the BACKROOM Dealing at City Hall!"
Mayor Dave Jaworsky, who is running for Mayor in Waterloo once again, defends his decision after reversing the closed door policy.
"In the early weeks of council we had some orientation meetings, that are common in business," says Jaworsky. "However it would have been better to have them in open council so we made that change immediately."
He says he isn't surprised by comments made online.
"Well what I've learned, is that during election campaigns there are stories that flourish like weeds in Spring. Some candidates will choose a negative campaign route, some will choose positive, and will be full of ideas."
