Rangers win wild one over Windsor to stretch streak to five

The Kitchener Rangers remain undefeated after a 3-2 shootout win over the Windsor Spitfires at the Aud Friday night

Arber Xhekaj had a minute and 43 seconds to sit and wait in overtime.

His Kitchener Rangers teammates completed a crucial penalty kill after the Montreal prospect was sent to the box at the tail end of regulation.

A wild overtime ensued and both Pavel Cajan and Xavier Medina put on a goaltending clinic.

In the end, Carson Rehkopf's goal in the fourth round of the shootout proved to be the difference, as the Rangers remain undefeated with a 3-2 win over Windsor Friday night.

Simon Motew opened the scoring early in the first for Kitchener, but Kyle McDonald tied it on the power play before the end of 20 minutes.

Matt Maggio gave the Spitfires the lead in the second.

But the visitors couldn't cling to the lead, as Roman Schmidt fired a wrist shot from the point by Medina about four minutes into the third.

Cajan made 32 saves for the win, while Medina stopped 27 shots and saddled with the loss.

Kitchener improves to 5-0, and looks to stretch the streak to six in Guelph Sunday afternoon.
