The Kitchener Rangers have dealt defenceman Arber Xhekaj to the Hamilton Bulldogs.
In return, the Rangers receive left winger Narvin Mutter -- four draft picks (Oshawa 2nd 2022, Hamilton 2nd 2025, Saginaw 3rd 2023 and Oshawa 3rd 2024, plus a conditional pick in 2023 (Hamilton 4th).
“While on one hand, we will be extremely sad to see Arber go we are excited that he will get to play in his hometown to finish his OHL career," Rangers General Manager and Head Coach, Mike McKenzie said in a release.
"He came to Kitchener as a free agent, worked so hard and earned himself an NHL contract. It is a great story and a testament to Arber’s work ethic and mentality. We are proud to have played a small part in his hockey career and wish him the best of luck in Hamilton and beyond.”
Xhekaj signed a three-year contract with the Montreal Canadiens back in October.
In 23 games with Hamilton this season, Mutter, who is from Lucan, had six points and 44 penalty minutes.
