Grass-roots programming of Special Olympics Ontario will be front and centre at Friday night's home game for the Kitchener Rangers.

LETR, Special Olympics Ontario, Waterloo Regional Police and the hockey club are all teaming up to raise awareness.

It's part of an ongoing commitment and partnership with the Rangers and LETR/Special Olympics Ontario that was first established in 2007, with the goal to raise awareness for over 26,000 athletes across the province.

Among the events planned for Friday, there will be a special pre-game ceremony and puck drop and a kiosk will be set up so fans can learn more about Special Olympics Ontario.

Kitchener will host Owen Sound at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. You can listen to the game on CityNews 570 at 7 p.m.
