Rangers sweep road trip through Michigan

After losing four straight, the Rangers are on a two-game winning streak after wins in Flint and Saginaw
FILE PHOTO. Kitchener Rangers defenseman and Montreal prospect Arber Xhekaj.

Turns out all the Kitchener Rangers needed was a trip across the border.

Arber Xhekaj had a goal and an assist, and Jacob Leblanc's first career OHL goal in the third proved to be the winner as the Rangers edged the Spirit in Saginaw 2-1 on Sunday.

Xhekaj was on the ice for every Kitchener goal this weekend, including the four scored against the Firebirds on Saturday.

Pavel Cajan made 29 saves in the win on Sunday.

The Spirit opened the scoring on a shorthanded goal from T-Bone Codd, before Xhekaj's second period marker tied it up.

Kitchener will host the Spirit on Friday night.

Pregame on CityNews 570 starts at 7 p.m. with Mike Farwell and Chris Pope.
