OHL action between the Soo Greyhounds and Kitchener Rangers on Oct. 27, 2021 at the GFL Memorial Gardens.

It's always a tough road trip, and it's reputation precedes itself.

The Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds dominated most of the game against the Kitchener Rangers Wednesday.

They went 1-for-4 on the powerplay, and bopped the Blueshirts 3-1.

"We're going to have to go back to the drawing board," said Rangers coach Mike McKenzie, after his team's second straight loss.

"Maybe we need to do things a little differently, as a coaching staff, and find different ways."

Those different ways may include sparking his best players.

After scoring 22 goals during their 5-0 start, the Rangers have only mustered three goals in their last two games.

Carson Rehkopf's first career OHL goal was the only one the Rangers could score on this occasion.

"Our top players weren't our top players tonight," said McKenzie.

"We need to calm down, make the simple passes and simple plays, and we'll get it back," added Kitchener captain Francesco Pinelli.

"It's tough to win in this league when your older guys, and top guys, aren't the guys that are going to carry you. You can't rely on your young guys to do the lions share of the work," said the head coach.

The adversity comes while it's still extremely early.

The 5-2 Rangers get a chance at immediate redemption, with the 'Hounds at The Aud Friday. Pregame begins at 7:00 p.m. on CityNews 570.
