2019 first round pick Francesco Pinelli has been named the new captain of the Kitchener Rangers.
The team made the announcement on Friday afternoon.
Pinelli, who hails from Stoney Creek, has 45 points in 61 career regular-season games played.
“It obviously feels great to be named captain, for this amazing organization,” he said in a news release. “I think I lead by example on and off the ice in many different ways. Looking after the younger guys, and making sure everyone is feeling good.”
Pinelli was drafted by the LA Kings back in June.
Arber Xhekaj, Mike Petizian, Declan McDonnell and Reid Valade will all be rotating alternate captains for the Rangers this season.
Kitchener is home to Sarnia on Friday. You can listen to the game on 570 NEWS at 7 p.m.
