It wasn't an appetizing response for the Kitchener Rangers following a big victory on home ice.
The Firebirds stormed out to a 4-0 lead, and never looked back for a 7-1 win over the Rangers Saturday night in Flint.
Sahil Panwar had two goals and an assist in that opening frame, while Tag Bertuzzi added a goal and two helpers of his own, as both players led the way with three point efforts.
Carson Rehkopf had the lone Ranger goal, his ninth of the year, but that was halfway through the second when it was already 5-0.
Jackson Parsons made 29 saves in the loss, while Luke Cavallin stopped 29 of 30 in what was his 12th straight start for the winning side.
Interesting to note, Marcus Vandenberg --- who was recently signed by the Rangers --- was the backup goaltender on this occasion, with no Pavel Cajan in the lineup.
Also interesting of note: Francesco Pinelli was noticeably absent for most of the game, especially after the first period.
The Rangers were playing their first game on the road since Dec. 11, and will finish off the road trip and three-in-three weekend in Windsor Sunday afternoon.
The pregame on CityNews 570 starts at 3:30 p.m.
