The Kitchener Rangers announced Thursday that Andreas Karlsson will not be returning as an assistant coach next season.
The hockey club said he is leaving for other opportunities.
Karlsson joined the Rangers in 2017. Prior to that, he spent two seasons as an assistant with the York University Lions men’s hockey team, helping guide the squad to an Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Queen’s Cup championship and an appearance in the University Cup championship.
He also has an impressive resume as a player, spending time in the NHL with Tampa Bay and Atlanta, as well as teams in the Swedish Elite League.
Karlsson won gold as a member of Team Sweden at the 2006 World Hockey Championships, and a bronze at the 1995 World Juniors.
