Two new deaths, slight rise in hospitalizations in latest local COVID update

Two new COVID-related death were confirmed by Region of Waterloo Public Health in the latest weekly update, released on January 13.

There have been 503 deaths locally since the start of the pandemic.

The data also showed that local hospitalizations due to COVID-19 have climbed by four since the last update. There are currently 40 COVID patients hospitalized.

Intensive care admissions rose by one to seven.

219 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in the latest update. The active caseload did drop however to 308, while 351 more cases were deemed resolved.
