The Canadian Shield lands major contract

The Canadian Shield will soon be seen in a lot of healthcare, and other facilities across the country.
The Waterloo Region-based company has landed a major contract with the federal government, which will see it manufacture 10 million units of reusable face shields for frontline workers by August.
The contract also means it will be able to double its workforce, from 150 to 300 employees.
“As our nation continues to grapple with the devastating impacts of COVID-19 on our front-line healthcare workers, we need to act fast to protect those who are putting their lives on the line every day,” said Jeremy Hedges, Founder and CEO of The Canadian Shield. “The federal government’s contract will put us in a position to expand our operating capabilities to address the critical shortage of medical equipment.”
The Canadian Shield was founded at the beginning of the pandemic by Hedges' technology company InkSmith.
The company will be hiring administrative and support personnel, warehouse workers, as well as machine operators.
Even after the contract is complete, the company will continue to produce personal protective equipment, but shift its focus to the international market.
