Temporary bike lanes to be installed over the next few weeks

By Erin Anderson

It's the news cyclists have been waiting for.

The Region of Waterloo confirmed this week that staff are in the process of setting up 30 kilometres of new temporary bike lanes

Regional Chair Karen Redman said the full installation should be completed by late July or early August.

“These extra bike lanes will allow for proper physical distancing on busy sidewalks, and will continue through the summer until October 2020,” said Redman in Friday's COVID-19 media briefing.

Grand River Transit is reassuring its passengers that all bus stops will continue to be served, although some may be slightly shifted for easier boarding.
