Almost 19-hour long investigation in Woodstock ends with help from WRPS (update)

An almost 19-hour long investigation in Woodstock has come to an end.

Woodstock Police said it started as a weapons-related call in the Devonshire Avenue and Vansittart Avenue area on Tuesday night around 9 p.m. 

A man then reportedly barricaded himself inside of an apartment. 

The Waterloo Regional Police Emergency Response unit was called to the scene on Wednesday around 7:30 a.m. to assist with ongoing negotiations. 

According to Woodstock Police, one person was then taken into custody shortly after 3 p.m. 

A 40-year-old Woodstock resident was arrested and charged with weapons dangerous, assault with a weapon, and mischief.
