Upcoming Highway 401 closure through London

The Ministry of Transportation is letting drivers know about an upcoming full closure of Highway 401 through London.

It's scheduled overnight on Saturday, Monday and Tuesday and will close all lanes between Dorchester Road and Veterans Memorial Parkway.

Detours will be posted in the area, and will include Hamilton Road, Wilton Grove Road and Cromarty Drive.

The on-and-off ramps through that stretch will also be closed.

Both eastbound and westbound lanes will be closed starting Saturday, August 14 at 6 p.m. until 10 a.m. Sunday.

Lanes will once again close on Monday at 12 a.m., reopening at 5 a.m, and again Tuesday during the same hours.

The ministry says the closure is to complete the demolition of the Westchester Bourne Road underpass.

If you're driving in the area, expect major traffic delays, or plan an alternate route to avoid the closure entirely.
