Twin Valley Zoo looking for help to get through lockdown

By Tim Herd

The Brantford Twin Valley Zoo is turning to the community for financial support. As Ontario remains under a stay-at-home order, the family run zoo and animal sanctuary has been left struggling to feed their 300 plus animals – as they say that simply shutting off the lights and waiting is not an option.

A GoFundMe page has been started as the zoo has suffered a huge financial loss due to the pandemic – and will continue to lose income as long as it remains closed.

The zoo only has 184 days a year to earn enough income to feed all the animals on the property.

This year, the facility has already lost 34 days, which is the equivalent of $120,000.

Zoo operators are also encouraging local residents to write to government officials imploring them to allow the zoo to reopen safely.
