A 28-year-old man faces a number of charges, including assault with a weapon, after an incident in Guelph.
Police say they were called to Sanderson Drive Saturday August 26 around 7:15 p.m. after reports a woman was assaulted by a man.
The woman was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.
When they made contact with the suspect, the man barricaded himself inside a home and displayed a weapon.
Officers say this was not a domestic dispute.
Police closed a section of Sanderson Drive for two and a half hours for public safety.
The man eventually came out without incident.
He has been charged with weapons dangerous and two counts of assault with a weapon.
