An end of an era is coming to Stratford.
Mayor Dan Mathieson said he will not seek re-election in the 2022 municipal vote, after serving five terms at the head of the council table.
Mathieson started as a councillor in 1995, and was first elected as mayor in 2003.
“I have enjoyed the honour/privilege bestowed upon me by the citizens,” he wrote as part of a lengthy Twitter thread, reflecting on the last year.
“I will always be a proud Stratford resident & look forward to supporting our city as we embark on our next chapter in our amazing history.”
The municipal vote is scheduled for October 2022.
I am for the first time in almost 3 decades not seeking re-election. I have enjoyed the honour/privilege bestowed upon me by the citizens. I will always be a proud Stratford resident & look forward to supporting our city as we embark on our next chapter in our amazing history.
