A heads up for motorists in the Royal City, as a section of the Hanlon is now closed for road work.

The City of Guelph says The Hanlon Expressway has now closed in both directions at Speedvale Avenue for work on the Woodlawn Road multi-use path construction project.

Woodlawn will have lanes reduced between Silvercreek and Regal as well.

Motorists can detour by using Speedvale, Silvercreek, and Woodlawn Road.

The Hanlon is set to be closed between Speedvale and Woodlawn for the next three months or so, while construction on the multi-use path is expected to wrap up in June of 2019.

** Updated: Earlier version stated the Hanlon closure will be in effect until summer of 2019 **
