Victim of sudden death near Elora identified as Waterloo man (update)

Update:

Wellington OPP now say a 67-year-old man from Waterloo was found dead along the Irvine River in Elora on Thursday afternoon.

Police say the death is still under investigation.

OPP are assisting the office of the chief coroner with the investigation.

ELORA – Local OPP are investigating what they called a “sudden death” on the Irvine River.

In a video on the OPP West Region Twitter account, Wellington OPP media officer Joshua Cunningham said one person is dead in an unspecified incident on the Irvine River in Salem on Thursday. 

He said emergency services responded at about 2:40 p.m. Thursday afternoon to a potentially injured person in the river.

When investigators and emergency responders arrived, one person was pronounced deceased.

Investigation into the incident is ongoing.
