More than $9K raised for dog hit by car in Perth East

By Erin Anderson

More than $9,000 has been raised so far to help a dog that was hit by a car last week in Perth East.

According to the humane society, a community member witnessed the incident and took the injured animal to the emergency veterinary clinic in Cambridge.

The Humane Society of Kitchener-Waterloo and Stratford-Perth (HSKWSP) put out an appeal on social media to track down the dog's owner, but at this time, no one has come forward.

The dog is still receiving medical care for a fractured back leg, fractured toes, and other wounds.

“The injuries to his back left leg are too severe to repair, and now that his stray hold period is over, HSKWSP is getting him into surgery this morning to have the leg amputated,” said a release from the humane society on Tuesday.

The dog is now being called 'Jayce' and officials are hoping he can move into foster care after his surgery.

The humane society launched a fundraiser for Jayce, with a goal of garnering $7,000. It has already exceeded that amount.
