A man drowned, but his daughter survived after both were pulled from the water at the Grand River Conservation Authority in Rockwood over the weekend.
Before 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, emergency crews responded after a possible drowning was called in.
Bystanders had pulled a man and a daughter from the water after their inflatable boat capsized.
Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said the seven-year-old girl was treated at the scene, but the 33-year-old father was pronounced dead after he was taken to hospital.
Both are from Mississauga.
"The seven-year-old was wearing a lifejacket. However, unfortunately, the 33-year-old was not," said Constable Joshua Cunningham.
OPP is continuing to investigate.
Anyone who saw what happened is asked to call 1-888-310-1122.
