Eastbound lanes of Highway 401 were closed for several hours at Foldens Line through Ingersoll on Friday due to a collision.

According to provincial police, the crash happened around 10:15 a.m.

"The investigation determined that two wheels detached from a westbound commercial motor vehicle. One of the tires then entered the centre median, continued into the eastbound lanes of the highway, striking a Sport Utility Vehicle," read a release from Oxford County OPP.

Police said the driver of the SUV was taken to hospital with minor injuries while a 12-year-old passenger was airlifted to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Three other youth who were in the SUV weren't hurt.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing and any witnesses, including those with dash cam video, are asked to contact Oxford County OPP or Crime Stoppers.
