Citing ongoing human resource shortages, the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance has warned residents in their service area of a looming emergency department closure at Clinton Public Hospital.
That closure is expected to impact the emergency department on Thursday, with plans to reopen with reduced hours of operation on Friday, August 12. Clinton Public Hospital's emergency department will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
In a release, the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance has cautioned that anyone requiring immediate medical attention should still call 9-1-1, as paramedics will be available on Thursday, rerouting any patients to the nearest available emergency department to ensure access to service.
According to that release, the closest 24-hour emergency departments include those in neighbouring communities of Seaforth, Goderich, Exeter and Wingham.
The Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance has encouraged residents to check with emergency departments in those communities before visiting to ensure they're still operating in regular hours.
Due to ongoing health human resource shortages, the Emergency Department at the Clinton Public Hospital will be closed on Thursday, August 11, 2022.
Anyone requiring immediate medical attention should call 9-1-1.
