OPP in Wellington County say their dive team has found the body of a Mississauga man who disappeared in Belwood Lake.

Police say 31-year-old Sathees Gnanenthiran was pulled to shore just after noon on Monday.

Constable Joshua Cunningham says Gnanenthiran went boating with two of his brothers and another man late Sunday afternoon, when they decided to go for a swim in the middle of the lake.

Gnanenthiran was the first to jump in, but was overtaken by water, says Cunningham.

One of his brother's attempted to save him, but also went into distress.

A nearby boater who spotted the commotion was able to rescue his brother. Gnanenthiran, however, went under and never resurfaced.

Rescuers canvassed the water until dusk on Sunday, and returned with sonar equipment Monday morning to scan the lake.

Cunningham says Gnanenthiran's family was on scene and able to identify his body immediately after it was recovered.

The coroner has been called in to investigate a cause of death. Cunningham says Gnanenthiran was not wearing a life jacket.
