OHL Roundup: Bulldogs overcome three-goal deficit in third to stun Colts in overtime

HAMILTON — Artem Grushnikov scored in overtime to complete the comeback for the Hamilton Bulldogs, who beat the Barrie Colts 5-4 in the Ontario Hockey League on Saturday.

The undefeated Bulldogs (2-0-0) were down 4-1 with 11 minutes to play in the third period.

Goals by Navrin Mutter and Ryan Humphrey 11 seconds apart brought Hamilton to within one. Jan Mysak scored his second of the game at 17:09 to force overtime. 

Grushnikov scored with a wrist shot from the point with 1:07 left in the extra period for his first goal in the OHL.

After Mysak gave the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead in the first period, the Colts (0-1-1) replied with two goals in the second and two in the third. 

Jacob Frasca, with two,  Ryan Del Monte and Oskar Olausson scored for Barrie, which got 23 saves from Tanner Wickware.

Goalie Marco Costantini stopped 34-of-38 shots for the win.

NIAGARA, Ont. – Juan Copeland scored the shootout winner for Niagara (2-0-0) after Daniel Michaud scored a late third-period goal for Oshawa (0-1-1) to force overtime. Tucker Tynan made 32 saves for the win.

SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. – Ryan Smith and Giordano Biondi each scored twice for unbeaten Sudbury (2-0-0), which also got a goal and three assists from Jack Thompson. Samuel Ivanov made 27 saves in defeat for the Greyhounds (1-1-0).

KINGSTON, Ont. – Mississauga (1-0-0) jumped to a 7-0 lead, with James Hardie and Luca Del Bel Belluz each scoring twice, before Kingston (1-1-0) netted two consolation goals in the third period.

GUELPH, Ont. – Justin Nolet broke a 4-4 tie with 1:02 remaining in the third period to give Kitchener (2-0-0) its second victory of the season. Sasha Pastujov scored a hat trick in a losing effort for Guelph (0-1-1).

OWEN SOUND, Ont. – London (2-0-0) fired 43 pucks on Mack Guzda’s goal, with four of them making it past including Abakar Kazbekov’s third-period winner. Luke Evangelista scored twice for the Knights over Owen Sound (0-1-1).

FLINT, Mich. – Luke Cavallin stopped all 35 pucks directed his way for the shutout as Flint (1-0-0) blanked Erie (0-1-0). Brennan Othmann scored on a penalty shot in the third period.
