Local Second World War veteran receives France’s highest national honour

Local veteran Augie Herchenratter has received France’s highest national honour.
The 94-year-old was recognized for his bravery in the Second World War for his extraordinary efforts in helping liberate France from the Germans.
Herchenratter was congratulated by fellow veterans after being awarded the Knight of the National Order of the Legion of Honour.
The ceremony took place at Waterloo’s Parkwood Mennonite Home on Tuesday.
